The Audit Commission has launched a tool for public bodies designed to help tackle domestic abuse during a period of declining public revenues.

UK public bodies – including councils, the police, the NHS and education organisations – have made significant progress in tackling reported incidents of domestic abuse in recent years. A 67% decline was registered between 1997 and 2009/10. But practitioners have warned progress could be undermined by public budget cuts.
