The chair of an influential governance committee at Leicestershire CC today revealed he is ‘most concerned' by developments in the inquiry into leader David Parsons' expenses claims and use of taxpayer-funded resources – and warned the issues must be ‘properly addressed'.

The MJ also understands that Cllr Parsons has rejected advice from members of his local Conservative group to stand down as Leicestershire's leader.
