Peak performances

Around 600 people took part in the Public Sector Challenge earlier this month, scaling the three peaks of Yorkshire in aid of Cancer Research UK, says Heather Jameson. So far a total of more than £200k has been raised towards the £250k target and it's not too late to donate

The public sector is sometimes extraordinary, rising to all sorts of challenges on a daily basis.

On Friday 6 September, it peaked – quite literally – when around 600 people took part in the Public Sector Challenge, scaling the three peaks of Yorkshire in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The challenge saw teams from across local government, the wider public sector and private sector partners climbing Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – 24 miles and a 1,585m ascent – all in the space of 12 hours.

Here are just some of the pictures of a great day when the sector came together to do something extraordinary – captured by Adam Clark Photography. You can find more photos at https://clarkphotographic.co.uk/public-sector-challenge-24.

So far a total of more than £200k has been raised towards the £250k target – if you are able to donate, you can do so here

A massive thank you from all of us who took part to all the volunteers and organisers, but especially to Solace's Jenny Clack, Jess Allchin from Cancer Research UK and most of all the founder of the Three Peaks Challenge, Jonathan Stephenson.

Watch out for our next adventure – a short stroll in January – and our next big challenge in September 2025.

Thanks to all sponsors and partners: Norse Group, Socitm, Local Government Association, The MJ, Cratus Group and Solace
