Local authorities should not ask interfering questions concerning the sexual orientation of residents applying for local services, community secretary Eric Pickles has warned.

Local authorities should not ask interfering questions concerning the sexual orientation of residents applying for local services, community secretary Eric Pickles has warned.

New statutory guidance published by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) today, will remove requirements for councils to request sensitive information regarding race, sexual orientation and religion as part of surveys into to council-run services.
