Local government secretary Eric Pickles has intensified his opposition to 'boomerang bosses', warning that too many executives are 'retiring' on their council pension only to continue working as a consultant to the sector.

This 'double dipping', as Mr Pickles has dubbed it, is alleged to be rife - with as many as 10,000 public employees drawing an income from their retirement pot while still working.
