Pickles to stand down as MP

Former communities secretary Sir Eric Pickles has announced he is standing down as MP for Brentwood and Ongar after 25 years.

Former communities secretary Sir Eric Pickles has announced he is standing down as MP for Brentwood and Ongar after 25 years.

Sir Eric, a former Bradford City Council leader who served as secretary of state between 2010 and 2015, said he had taken the decision ‘after much heart searching'.
