Almost 90 local authority staff were sacked or resigned following significant data breaches over the past three years, figures published today have shown.

Figures released under the Freedom of Information (FOI) Act, and obtained by the Big Brother Watch pressure group, showed that 50 local authority staff were dismissed from their posts following data breaches between 2011 and 2014.
