For South Lakeland, and no doubt many other parts of rural England, the outcome of the election is a watershed in the future planning for our communities.
There are day-to-day issues that require answers sooner rather than later. Our local transport infrastructure is in need of significant investment if it is to take advantage of the opportunities that the UK's industrial strategy must cover. Growing the future workforce and bringing today's skilled workforce to areas that have the jobs but not the infrastructure creates difficult and real challenges.
