Government ambitions to introduce regional pay across the public sector could cost some coalition MPs in the North West their seats at the next general election, a leading local government trade union has warned.

Unison this week urged MPs across the region to vote against any attempt by ministers to introduce local pay bargaining to town halls, claiming it would lead to more industrial conflict and could depress the local economy.
