The number of employees retiring from the giant Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) leapt by 14.2% last year.

Data on the £360bn LGPS published by the Department for Levelling Up Housing and Communities (DLUHC) last week showed there were 94,724 retirements from the LGPS in 2021-22 – an increase of 11,788 on the previous year.
