Somerset leader eyes police commissioner role

Leader of Somerset CC has announced he is to stand down in order to become Avon and Somerset's police and crime commissioner.

The leader of Somerset CC has announced he is to stand down in order to run for office to become Avon and Somerset's police and crime commissioner.

Cllr Ken Maddock has led the West Country authority since the Conservatives' local election victory in 2009.
