Too many city centres in England and Wales are over-dependent on retail space – and should swap shops for offices and housing, a think-tank has said.

Too many city centres in England and Wales are over-dependent on retail space – and should swap shops for offices and housing, a think-tank has said.

A report by Centre for Cities, published today, found that ‘successful' city centres, such as those in Cambridge and London, tended to have a high volume of office space and not just retail units, as well as housing and leisure facilities.
