Tapping into the talent on our doorstep

Great Yarmouth BC's work on supported internships dovetails with its determination to have an inclusive and diverse workforce that better reflects the communities it serves, says Sheila Oxtoby.

As the dust settles after last month's local elections, work is well under way as we transition to a new administration to lead us through the next four years.

The election in the borough was expected to be closely contested – and it was. After a nail-biting count which saw recounts for several seats, we ended up with no overall control which came down to just one vote. However, a few days later the sitting Conservative leader was re-elected.
