Why telling a straight story matters

How do you create the compelling narrative that in the first case secures funding, but also engages people who need to change how they think and what they do, asks Tracie Langley. Sometimes reality is just too complex - 'so simple narratives work'.

At Homes England we are working hard to deliver modern public service delivery through digital transformation. This doesn't mean buying new technology to replace our many old legacy systems and having a funky web site. It means changing the services we deliver by using digital platforms for people to access our services more easily and supporting them to build houses more quickly.

All transformation comes at a cost so being able to articulate a compelling reason as to why things need to change is key. Without this narrative, additional funding will be difficult to secure and your organisation will be resistant to new ideas and actively work against change, which creates more cost.
