The number of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) arriving in Kent continues to soar while the county council awaits court guidance on improving the national transfer scheme.

The number of unaccompanied asylum-seeking children (UASC) arriving in Kent continues to soar while the county council awaits court guidance on improving the national transfer scheme.

Figures compiled by Kent CC showed the number of UASC arriving in Kent increased by 59% last year – from 1,405 in 2022 to 2,228 in 2023.
