Trade unions have announced the biggest day of strike action for decades over Government plans to make public staff pay more, and work for longer, for their pensions.

Following a day of detailed debate over controversial coalition proposals to tackle the rising cost of public pensions at the annual Trades Union Congress, union bosses called a national ‘day of action' for 30 November.
