The trade union Unite has suspended a planned three-day strike across education and local government in Scotland after receiving a ‘serious' pay offer from employers.

Unite announced that following a meeting of its local government committee today it would suspend strike action scheduled for next week to ballot members on an improved offer from the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities (COSLA).
