Councils are demanding powers to over-rule ‘commercial confidentiality' when scrutinising how private sector providers deliver local services.

Responses to a Parliamentary inquiry into town hall overview and scrutiny have revealed support for powers to summon, assess and challenge a wider range of organisations delivering local services.
