Voluntary sector should take 'responsibility' for riot issues

Responsibility for dealing with the social aftermath of the London riots must be borne by the third sector as well as Government.

Responsibility for dealing with the social aftermath of the London riots must be borne by the third sector as well as Government, according to the Association of Chief Executives and Voluntary Organisations (ACEVO).

In a letter addressed to David Cameron yesterday, ACEVO chief executive Sir Stephen Bubb said it was not purely down to Government to address the issues surrounding the riots. 'Responsibility also clearly lies with others- including voluntary organisations,' Sir Stephen said.
