Early responses to voter ID pilots across five areas of England suggest councils encountered problems – including long queues to vote and people being turned away from polling stations.

Five local authorities – Bromley LBC, Gosport BC, Swindon Council, Watford Council and Woking BC – experimented with voter ID programmes at this year's local government elections, as part of the Cabinet Office's wider plans to tackle voter fraud.
