Wakefield makes Unison election bid

Unison’s head of local government, Heather Wakefield, will stand in the union’s forthcoming vote to elect a general secretary.

Unison's head of local government, Heather Wakefield, will stand in the union's forthcoming vote to elect a general secretary.

Ms Wakefield, who has worked for Unison for 26 years, could run-off against the incumbent general secretary, Dave Prentis, in a vote to be decided in December – providing that she can secure enough votes to get on the ballot paper.
