Watchdog scolds developer over £94m accounting error

Galliford Try overstated its assets by tens of millions via a number of errors.

A watchdog has ordered a developer to amend its accounts after it overstated its assets by £94m.

Shares in Galliford Try fell sharply on the back of the news while the withdrawal of a promised shareholder payout by fellow developer Berkeley Group also caused its market value to plummet.
