The leader and chief executive of Wigan MBC have demanded improved standards at the authority.

The leader and chief executive of Wigan MBC have demanded improved standards at the authority amid opposition councillors' attempts to oust the town hall's most senior officer.

Lord Peter Smith, Wigan's Labour leader, and Donna Hall, the chief executive, this week warned that members must improve their behaviour after the authority received 17 official complaints against councillors in 2012/13.
