We need to make homes greener

Renters have little or no control over the energy efficiency of the homes they live in, yet are the ones bearing the cost. The Government needs to support landlords to implement crucial changes, says Paul Shevlin.

No one in Britain is immune to the cost of living crisis. Thousands of households are being forced to choose between eating and heating this winter.

Among those are private tenants on low incomes. This is exacerbated because millions of renters across the country are trapped in cold and poorly insulated homes due to a lack of initiatives encouraging private landlords to improve energy efficiency ratings on their properties.
