This moment is bittersweet

In his last District View column for The MJ, Paul Shevlin reflects on what working in local authorities for the last five decades has taught him.

It's hard to say goodbye, but sometimes you have to.

In 1973, I stepped into the role of a fresh-faced trainee environmental health officer at what was then Ashton-under-Lyne BC. At the end of this month, I will be leaving local government after almost reaching the golden milestone of 50 years of service.
