It will be hard for many to see the value of spending millions on introducing voter ID

The Government wants to introduce a requirement for photo ID. This will be even more difficult to ‘sell’ to the public than mixed-ID for voters and will need even more resources, says Paul Shevlin.

With the Elections Bill now introduced in Parliament, the Government appears to be pressing ahead with plans to introduce voter ID. It is a great shame they aren't looking at consolidating the 75 pieces of legislation, many outdated, currently governing the legal minefield which elections already present!

However, voter ID is of particular interest to us here in Craven as we took part in the voter ID pilot during the 2019 local elections.
