The Local Government Association's (LGA) calls for volunteers to get council tax discounts have been called into question by a leading Conservative councillor.

Earlier this week the LGA launched its call for councils to be able to give discounts to ‘community heroes' and for the Government to launch the scheme with a £50m start-up fund.
