Scottish council use of local suppliers halves in 10 years

The number of Scottish businesses winning council contracts has almost halved within a decade, a report has found.

The number of Scottish businesses winning council contracts has almost halved within a decade, a report has found.

Although the value of spending by councils within their boundaries has remained steady overall at around 30% between 2008 and 2017, the number of local suppliers has fallen from 51,312 to 29,910 over the same period - a reduction of 42%.
