Shadow minister: levelling up 'would take decades'

The last Conservative government failed to articulate the long-term nature of its levelling up policy, a shadow minister has admitted.

The last Conservative government failed to articulate the long-term nature of its levelling up policy, a shadow minister has admitted.

Kevin Hollinrake, who has retained ‘levelling up' in his title as shadow secretary of state, told the Convention of the North the policy was ‘was a grand ambition' but added ‘what we should have explained is that it would take decades to do it'.
