Independent Mayor Lutfur Rahman has been re-elected as Mayor of Tower Hamlets, despite the on-going independent inquiry into allegations of corruption in the borough. 

 In a media statement, the councils said: ‘The elections in Tower Hamlets on May 22 featured the strongest measures to prevent fraud of any authority in London – and one of the most robust in the country.
