Councils may have to hand back grant

Some of the extra £55m Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) announced by the chancellor in the Budget may have to be handed back by councils.

The Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has rejected requests for ‘more flexibility’ on the timeframe for spending the capital funding despite admitting councils will have a ‘relatively short window to spend it’.
