Fixing London's social housing problem

Honesty and openness are the foundations on which successful housing policy is built.In local government, we acknowledge social housing faces immense challenges.

This is particularly the case in London, where the shortage of social housing is a key factor underlying our high rates of homelessness, but also where tenant satisfaction levels are lower than elsewhere in the country. There are too many tenants living in poor quality homes, let down by substandard services. How did we get to this point?
