Deputy chief executive of the Centre for Governance and Scrutiny, Ed Hammond’s recent work involved providing specialist improvement support to a range of councils.

He has worked to help local authorities including Thurrock, Croydon and Liverpool, and also led the secretariat supporting the Newham Democracy Commission – work that led to the creation of the UK’s first standing citizens’ assembly.
