One of the leading centres for health inequalities research has urged businesses to work with councils and public and third sector organisations to improve people’s wellbeing – and improve productivity.
Led by Professor Michael Marmot, Director of University College London’s Institute of Health Equity and author of several Government reviews on the topic, a review of health inequalities published today is described as ‘a roadmap for the role of industry in levelling up’. It notes that 30% of the productivity gap in the Northern Powerhouse region is estimated to be down to ill-health.
