The Queen’s Birthday Honours list has paid tribute to local authority personnel from Glasgow City Council who played an important role in delivering COP26.
Glasgow’s chief executive Annemarie O’Donnell, who was chair of the COP26 programme board, has been made an OBE for services to local government.
Ms O’Donnell said: ‘I think it is undeniable that, when somebody in a role like mine receives an honour, it reflects the work and the dedication of thousands of people.'
The council's senior responsible officer for COP26, Colin Best Edgar, and head of city services Denise Hamilton were also recognised with OBEs.
Suzanne Kathryn Wylie, who was chief executive of Belfast City Council until February, was made an OBE for services to local government in Northern Ireland.
Director of adult social care and support at Coventry City Council, Peter Martin Fahy, and director of children’s services in Sunderland City Council, Jill Colbert, were made OBEs.
Former chief executive of Tower Hamlets LBC, Christine Gilbert, who was chief inspector at Ofsted from 2006 until 2011, was made a Dame.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid tribute to all of this year’s winners.
