At the end of October 2023, more than 150 councils attended an emergency summit calling for more Government support as the cost of temporary accommodation rapidly continues to increase.
Councils spent £1.7bn on temporary accommodation in England in the financial year ending March 2023. This is more than double the amount they were spending seven years ago.
