Bold steps for radical reform

The Local Government Finance Settlement provided minimal additional support for the considerable pressures being faced by councils with social care responsibilities. In recent weeks, though, the Government has made it quite clear that finding a long-term solution for social care is a high priority.

It is essential local government works constructively with central government to find innovative solutions which are sustainable, support a strong and vibrant care market and which deliver an integrated health and social care system that improves residents’ lives.
