Communicating the changes

Like many of The MJ’s readers, I have been following the lead-up to the General Election with great interest. From Monday to Friday, the news has been dominated with election pledges – leaders trying to eat hot dogs the right way for the cameras and questions around majorities and coalitions.

However, when it comes to the weekend, I’ve been following a different story. The money pages in all the papers have been dedicated to pension reform and choice. The ability for people to be able to fully access their pension pots is a significant change in the industry and one that will, and obviously has, raised many questions. It’s almost an overload of information, tips and the inevitable sales pitches added in for good measure.

Unlike the other public sector schemes, as a public sector-funded scheme, the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) is affected by these changes.
