Housing growth looms large on my current agenda and it is interesting to contrast the different places in which my two councils find themselves.

One has a current local plan and a five-year housing land supply (albeit neither with a very long shelf life), the other has neither. Life is a lot easier in the plan-led district, that’s for sure.

Of course, with more than half an eye on finance, speculative planning permissions that are now turning into developments coming out of the ground aren’t all bad.
