Election headaches lie ahead

Electoral administrators in districts and other councils enjoy no flexibility in the timetable for elections.

Following repeal of the Fixed-term Parliaments Act, a General Election can be called with only 25 working days’ notice. Every other elected body or official in the UK has a fixed term of office. Why the House of Commons should be different remains unexplained.
