Liverpool’s lead commissioner has defended the need for further intervention after mayor Joanne Anderson claimed it would not solve the council’s problems.
Levelling up secretary Greg Clark said today he was minded to hand the commissioners additional powers, including over recruitment, and appoint another member of the team to oversee finances.
