Trust districts to deliver

Devolution to local communities, neighbourhoods and towns will deliver a greater level of joined-up decision-making, locally relevant services and ultimately better outcomes for residents.

The success of devolution hinges on the Government recognising that it needs to be different in different places. To suggest that it is simply a matter of devolving to the top tier of local government, as is being said in some quarters, is short sighted and ignores the contribution district councils make.
