Watchdog's warning over Elections Act

The Electoral Commission has argued plans to give ministers a say over its work could ‘get in the way’ of implementing the Elections Act.

The Government is currently consulting on a ‘strategy and policy statement’ that would ‘set the strategic direction’ for the commission.
