Atotal of 250% of the average rainfall hit Somerset in the month following December 2013, causing millions of pounds of damage to the local economy. Somerset CC’s remarkable engineering solution to severe flooding saw it win the Effective Transport and Infrastructure Delivery category at The MJ Awards 2015.

When severe weather hit the South West between mid-December 2013 and January 2014, Somerset CC faced a significant challenge to reconnect cut-off communities.
