Clegg vows to improve 'Cinderella' mental health services

Deputy prime minister Nick Clegg has unveiled the introduction of waiting time targets for people with mental health problems for the first time in England.

Under proposals revealed at the Liberal Democrats Party conference in Glasgow, Mr Clegg outlined a £120m plan to reform ‘Cinderella’ mental health services.

Plans include giving people with depression ‘talking therapy’ within 18 weeks from next April and ensuring young people with psychosis are assessed within 14 days.
