'Gargantuan hole' in Government housebuilding approach, MP suggests

The Government’s U-turn on housebuilding targets has brought production of local plans to a halt, MPs on the Levelling Up, Housing and Communities Committee claimed yesterday.

Committee member Andrew Lewer, a former Tory leader of Derbyshire CC, said between 25 and 55 councils had paused drawing up local plans since communities secretary Michael Gove announced last year that housing targets would no longer be mandatory.
