As the dust settles on the financial settlement, where will this leave local government for 2024-25?

A General Election is not going to help with the stagnation of before and the flurry afterwards. This means the one thing we need – financial certainty – will be last on the agenda. Likewise, while it is likely we will get a ‘disclaimer’ resolution to move forward on the statement of accounts, this is not going to instil any further confidence in local government. So what is there to look forward to in 2024-25?
