In the record-breaking heatwaves of last summer, as I met with community workers from across Bristol, it was difficult to reconcile the desperate warnings of the upcoming challenges in the winter for households.
But we took the then looming national cost of living crisis seriously and developed a plan, reactivating our responses to other emergencies, such as Covid, and brought together partner organisations to co-ordinate our city’s response.
