Commissioner won’t act over contracts investigation

Lancashire’s police commissioner has refused to intervene in an investigation into two councils by his county’s force that has dragged on for over three years.

Clive Grunshaw said the probe into alleged financial irregularities in the tendering of contracts to BT by Lancashire CC and Liverpool City Council was ‘very complex,’ adding: ‘It is important that the constabulary is given the opportunity to conduct the investigation to its full extent.’
