AI concerns soothed by watchdog

An inquiry into councils’ use of artificial intelligence (AI) by the data protection regulator has found it is lawful and non-discriminatory.

The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) launched an investigation after concerns were raised about the use of AI and algorithms in areas such as welfare and social care.
